Over the years, “This Christmas” has become a staple fo the holiday season. Running from Donny Hathaway’s classic performance of the Christmas song to Chris Brown’s performance of the holiday tune in This Christmas, the song has become synonymous with gift giving, hot chocolate and family time. This year, a new artist has taken his shot at performing the classic song.
One week before Christmas, YK Osiris has recorded and release his rendition of “This Christmas.” Using his fervent vocal tone, the Jacksonville native puts his own twist on the holiday classic.
“Hang all the mistletoe/I’m gonna get to know you better/This Christmas/And as we trim the tree/How much fun it’s gonna be together/This Christmas,” he sings.
YK Osiris is far from the only young artist to try his voice out on a classic Christmas song. In recent years, Summer Walker has put out a rendition of “Santa Baby,” 6LACK has delivered a rendition of “Santa Claus Go Straight To The Ghetto” and Bryson Tiller just put out his own Christmas album. YK Osiris is just adding his own flavor to the modern day Christmas soundtrack. Check out his rendition of “This Christmas” below.
