YBN Cordae was reportedly detained during a peaceful protest in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday. Details regarding the matter are scarce at the moment. Video of the arrest shows a group of people sitting in the front yard of a house with three to four officers policing the demonstration. One officer can be seen standing the best-selling artist up with his hands behind his back before walking him out of the frame.
Cordae was attending a demonstration in support of Breonna Taylor Taylor was shot and killed in her home on March 13, 2020. Louisville Metro Police Officers executed a “no-knock” warrant on her apartment in search of Jamarcus Glover and Adrian Walker. When authorities entered the house, Taylor and her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, were asleep. Walker woke up and was under the impression that someone had broken in. In response, he fired warning shots at the officers. The officers then fired more than 20 rounds in retaliation, killing Taylor in her home.
Adrian Walker and Glover were accused of distributing illegal substances in the Louisville area. Authorities believed that Glover and Taylor had a prior relationship and that packages of illegal substances were being sent to her apartment. However, no drugs were ever found at the apartment.

Cordae has not only been active on social media, but also in-person. In May, the Grammy nominee traveled Minneapolis to support protesters there. Not to mention, video has surfaced of rising artist speaking at a protest against police brutality in 2015.
At this time, it is unclear if Cordae is still being held in custody. More details will be added to this report as they become available.
