The same day that Yogi Berra debuted in the MLB 69 years ago is also the same day that the legendary Yankees catcher passed away. Yogi Berra died late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning at his home in Montclair, New Jersey at the age of 90 due to natural causes.
The following from the Yogi Berra Museum, the MLB, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees.

Yogi Berra was elected to the MLB Hall-of-Fame in 1972, he won 10 World Series titles as a player, 3 MVP awards and was named an All-Star 18 times throughout his playing career. His number 8 is retired by the Yankees and he’s a member of the MLB’s All-Decade team. After he was done playing for both New York teams Berra took his talents to strictly in the dugout when he went to become a manager for both of those same teams, the Yankees on two different occasions.
A great MLB mind for ESPN, Buster Olney, captures the greatness of Berra and how he really would relate to today’s MLB players.
If you took Buster Posey's career and tripled it, you would approach what Yogi Berra accomplished in his career. 3 MVPs, 10 WS titles.

One of the things that Yogi will be most noted for is his ‘Yogiisms’ such as:
“It ain’t over till it’s over.” , “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”, “You can observe a lot by watching.”, “90% of the game is half-mental.” and, of course, “Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t go to yours.”
Hopefully a few people will go to Berra’s funeral when he’s buried in a surprise location.
Per AP: Carmen Berra asked #Yogi if he wanted to be buried in St. Louis, NYC or Montclair, NJ. His reply: "Why don't you surprise me."
