The New York Yankees have defeated the Oakland Athletics in the American League Wildcard game 7-2 after the Athletics imploded in the 6th inning. The Yankees will go on to face the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series.
Aaron Judge started the game early with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, however, the real change in scoring came in the sixth inning when Aaron Hicks hit a double to drive in Judge and Luke Voit hit a triple to drive in Hicks and Stanton when the Athletics. The Athletics started to go downhill after Hicks doubled, the whole team’s defense began to go into a snowball effect going downhill, Lucroy’s blocking defense declined, and the team made errors following Hicks’ double.
Is there anything more fun than a big man getting a triple?! ??? pic.twitter.com/oVBdfBLeUE

Luis Severino was lights out in his start, pitching four innings striking out seven for the Yankees. Severino did not get the win, but the rest of the bullpen was also effective, with Betances pitching two strong innings while picking up the win.
The Yankees are going up against the Red Sox in the divisional series, the Red Sox clinched a long time ago and were the first team to 100 wins this season. They are in for a tough challenge, and it will make for a good series between the teams. The Red Sox hose the Yankees this Friday to kick the series off.
