While the world of music has enjoyed an incredible run of releases, it has also dealt with its fair share of controversy and tragedy. Among the many controversies and tragedies to take place this year, the murder of XXXTentacion definitely sits near the top of the list. This summer, the Florida musician was shot and killed in an attempted robbery gone wrong. Since then, all suspects involved have been brought in and are awaiting trial. In addition, the late rapper was laid to rest in his home state of Florida. Following his death, dozens of friends, family members and fellow musicians have shown their support for the late rapper and his family.
Despite no longer being here with us, his name has remained in the headlines for both good and bad reasons. On a less than positive note, the late musician’s name was brought up again when Vic Mensa took shots at the late rapper during the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards. More recently, Pitchfork unveiled tapes that seemingly show the Florida native admitting to stabbing multiple people and domestically abusing his former significant other. In contrast, his music has remained very well received. Not long after his death, his final music video for “SAD!” was released. More recently, he entered the charts through a collaboration with Lil’ Pump.
With his music continuing to hold weight throughout the culture, his team is preparing for the release of his first posthumous album. While there is no official release date for the project, rumors point to December 9th as the anticipated release date. Tonight, his team has dropped what appears to be the first single from the project. Stream his newest single, “BAD!”.
