It has been confirmed that X-Men: Apocalypse will be set in 1983.
The news was recently confirmed by writer-producer Simon Kinberg in a recent interview, according to Digital Spy.
The most recent film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, was set ten years earlier in 1973.
2011’s X-Men: First Class was set in 1962 amidst the Cuban Missile Crisis.
It has also been confirmed that James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will be returning for the film, which will center around the titular immortal mutant villain.
Kinberg also revealed that some original X-Men cast members would also appear in the film.
Aside from Kinberg’s announcements, further details of X-Men: Apocalypse are remaining under wraps.
