Before we get into these new tunes from Brooklyn’s own WordSmiff, Happy Birthday young King, enjoy your day.
Now as an artist what better way is there to celebrate your birthday than releasing new music to the masses. In Smiff’s case he has decided to deliver two new records for the listeners to vibe out to. Fresh off the release of “Can A Nigga Dream” and the announcement that the project can be streamed on all services – which deserves a congratulation as well, it looks like WordSmiff isn’t quite done. In many cases when you haven’t fully reached where one wants to be, they’re still dreamin’ until those dreams become reality and success is knocking at your door.
With Summer ’16 set to take off, our Brooklyn native certainly wasn’t going to let up and in looking to keep his momentum going he delivers ‘Still Dreamin’ Pt. 1. The first part of many to come this Summer, WordSmiff releases ‘Hey Lover’ and ‘Tabula Rasa’.
‘Hey Lover’ is his rendition of the classic 1995 song by LL Cool J featuring Boyz II Men. The record features some assistant from Tunes with REALFORTES on the boards and in Smiff’s words …”Making music for the ladies all Summer 16…” So as you should assume this first record is for the ladies and fellas if you have that special young lady, you can absolutely relate to this joint.
“I want to put it on front street for all the world so they too can peep the beauty of my baby girl. There’s this thing about love that’s kinda crazy its unconditional, unwavering, that’s on my lady”
“..and you’re an art piece cause you ain’t have to speak but I seen your beauty shine through… What I’m tryna say, you caught my eye..”
Honestly, there’s several quotable lines so I suggest you guys check out ‘Hey Lover’
Moving forward though we switch up the mood with ‘Tabula Rasa’ which catches WordSmiff really in his element. While ‘Hey Lover’ was strictly for the women, Smiff gets back to the bars with a lyrical exercise freestyle over this REALFORTES produced record. If you weren’t aware the term “Tabula Rasa” is “latin for blank slate and originates from the roman tabula used for notes which was blanked by heating the wax and then smoothing it out.”
Like JAY Z said, “googles your friend bruh”
Without even pressing play, the title alone speaks volumes on the direction Smiff is going with this record and those to follow. Also, if you ever needed an example of the “New York” sound, this new joint serves its purpose.
“I need that bag!”… I suggest you guys get familiar with WordSmiff before the price starts to go up but in the meantime check out ‘Tabula Rasa’
