The Minnesota Timberwolves are a reported preferred destination for Kyrie Irving who has requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team’s premier stars, Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns, have courted the star while pushing the Wolves to trade for him.
Finding the right trade package for Irving, however, promises to be a tricky task. There are multiple teams attempting to trade for the point guard, raising the asking price for everyone.
According to a recent report, the Wolves are not willing to part with one of their top assets in Andrew Wiggins in order to get Irving. That means that a trade between the two teams is currently not close.
Not Wiggins, and it'll take him and more.

Word is they want more than Aldrich to make the $$ work. They want something of substance in addition to Wiggins. No trade w/ MN is close.

The Wolves are reportedly trying to sign Wiggins, who wants a max deal, to an extension. So clearly, they value the fourth-year pro highly.
There are a lot of valid questions about Wiggins’ ceiling and his development thus far. But there would also be valid concerns about an Irving-Butler backcourt and the ceiling of such a partnership with KAT in the middle. That’s not to mention the immediate future of Jeff Teague who was signed to be team’s starting point guard earlier this summer.
