
The WNBA has landed a partnership deal with Top Shot and will begin releasing NFTs through the platform. The first release through the partnership will include digital assets featuring the best moments of the 2021 NBA season. The first 10,000 fans to sign up through Top Shot will be guaranteed a spot to purchase a pack from Friday’s drop.
“Top Shot presents an exciting opportunity for the WNBA to engage passionate fans on a whole new level and celebrate the league as it continues to make history,” WNBA Chief Operating Officer Christy Hedgpeth said.
“We have been at the forefront of innovation in many respects, and partnering with Dapper Labs on Top Shot allows us to highlight the talent and incredible performances of WNBA players in a heightened way through a digital experience.”
Top Shot is the latest group to partner with the WNBA. Leading up to the league’s 25th season, it earned partnerships with Amazon and Google as well. As a result, television viewership and online engagement have reached an all-time high.
