The Washington Wizards are doing all they can to make a playoff push and they aren’t holding back in taking chances on some potential difference makers. They traded for Markieff Morris at the trade deadline and so far he’s been filling the Wiz need for a solid stretch four. Now they are adding a scoring threat out of the backcourt to assist John Wall as Bradley Beal continues to battle more injuries.
The Wizards have signed a replacement for Neal in former Houston Rockets guard Marcus Thornton. The veteran was initially supposed to go to the Detroit Pistons as part of a now rescinded trade and he was quickly waived by the Rockets after the trade fell through.
Now he’s going to DC.

Free-agent guard Marcus Thornton has agreed to a contract with the Washington Wizards for the remainder of the season, league sources told The Vertical.
The Wizards have been in discussions with Thornton for the past several days and cleared a roster spot by waiving guard Gary Neal on Wednesday.
Thornton going to the Wizards gives them another ball handler and a potential spot up shooter to run alongside John Wall. In 47 games for Houston this season, Thornton averaged 10 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
