The match-up everybody will be watching during the Wizards VS Warriors game obviously will be the battle between two of the best young backcourts in the league, but the backcourt matchup is not what the Wizards need to focus on to win this game. If John Wall and Bradley Beal get caught up in all of the ‘best back court’ talk, this game will be a blowout in favor of the Warriors, with a league leading record of 43-10. “Check the Eastern and Western Conference NBA Betting Lines here.
The game starts with defense, and after watching the Wizards get blown out by the Pistons, I’m not sure they are going to be able to tame a Warriors team that is averaging 110.3 points per game. If the Wizards are giving up 106 to a Pistons team that is averaging only 98.4 points per game, I am not prepared to watch tonight’s matchup. The Warriors are shooting nearly 48% on the season while the Pistons are right under 43% shooting percentage as a team. Tonight will take a much stronger defense effort if the Wizards want to beat the west of the west.
After being traded to Washington from Sacramento, it’s about time Ramon Sessions decides to show up to a game. Sooner or later, he is going to have to wake up and have a breakout game, and having that game tonight is a key to allowing the Wizards to steal a win from Golden State.
Rather than focus on the back court matchup, the Wizards must look to the inside and attempt to control the paint to be able to win this game at home. After Marcin Gortat’s monster game in the lopsided loss to the Pistons, he looks to continue this dominance in the paint that had been missing for a majority of the last month or so. Nene also needs to return to form after only scoring 4 points vs the Pistons, a game where he dealt with foul trouble and a lot of contact with the Piston’s front-court. If Nene and Gortat can be have productive nights and can take control of this game, the Wizards will have a chance to pull off the upset.
If these three keys can happen, look for the Wizards to not only compete with Golden State, but potentially pull out an upset win in front of the home crowd. A win in a game of this caliber would help get the Wizards back on track as they look to improve upon their current 5th place seeding in the Eastern Conference. Defense, Ramon Sessions, and the front-court… NOT THE BACK-COURT, will be how Washington can sneak by Golden State and pull out a win in this great Wizards VS Warriors matchup.
