Wizards Rally For 133-132 Double Overtime Win Vs. Celtics
The Washington Wizards rallied for a 133-132 double overtime win against the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Paul Pierce had a team-high 28 points for Washington, and John Wall brought 26 points, 7 rebounds and 17 of Washington’s 32 assists to the table.
Washington was without big man NeNe (knee) but got out to a 34-31 first quarter start. Boston’s offensive production dipped in the second quarter, where Washington was able to gain a 28-16 advantage making it a 58-45 halftime lead for the Wizards at the half.
Although Boston came out with two 30+ point quarters in both second half periods, which caught up to Washington in the fourth quarter where they only managed to put up 18 points. That leveled the playing field and gave the Celtics their window to push the game into overtime.
The Wizards won the overtime battle 23-22, edging out the Celtics on some major plays from the relentless John Wall and the Paul Pierce, who made crucial plays down the stretch on both ends of the floor.
Washington moves to 14-6 on the season and Boston falls to 7-12.
