Earlier in the offseason, Ted Leonsis announced he wanted the Wizards to have secured a spot for a new practice facility by the end of the offseason.
Following From Washington Post.
“I’m hoping by the end of the offseason to make an announcement that says this is the place that we’re going to build it and how long it will take.”
As possibilities of where the facility is going to be built heats up, Virginia is for sure not going to be in the mix. Leonsis announced talks between the Wizards and Virginia broke down, and nothing is being done to recreate the possibility of a practice facility based in Virginia.
Following From Washington Post.
“We also were in talks with the State of Virginia, but for unknown reasons, they decided to end discussions,” Leonsis wrote. “And there is no active work being done with the State at this time.”
Only two-thirds of the DMV is being considered, so Virginia may be feeling a little left out of this. It’s not too late to get back into the discussion, but unless they make a move quickly, it appears the Wizards will land their practice facility in either Maryland or DC.
