The Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets have all added some bench pieces today in free agency. Forward Jeff Adrien has agreed to a deal with the Houston Rockets, for one year at the league minimum. The Utah Jazz agreed to a deal with former Wizards back-up power forward Trevor Booker, for two years at $10 million dollars. The Wizards needed to replace Booker’s production and may have improved their depth a whole lot with the signing of the productive and ever popular Kris Humphries, in a sign and trade with the Boston Celtics bringing in Humphries for three years at $13 million dollars. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported the signings.
The Rockets bring in the former U-Conn Huskies Forward, Jeff Adrien, who spent time with the Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks during the 2013-14 season. He also had a previous stint with the Rockets as well as the Golden State Warriors, along with several stops in Europe. Adrien is signed as well as veteran forward/center and former University of Memphis Tigers star Joey Dorsey who also agreed to a contract with the Rockets. Adrien has been a solid end of the bench contributor throughout his career in the NBA even with being undrafted back in 2009.
Former Washington Wizard and Clemson Tiger, Trevor Booker, has agreed with the Utah Jazz on a two year, $10 million dollar deal. The ever productive, high energy and physical Booker leaves the Wizards after four seasons on the team. The 26 year old, 23rd overall pick in the 2010 draft, averaged 6.8 points on 55.4 % shooting and 5.3 rebounds for the Wizards in the 2013-14 season but in his career with Washington, he averaged 6.4 points and 5.1 rebounds.
The other signing of the day was a move made by the Wizards to replace the departure of Booker to the Jazz. The Wizards completed a sign-and-trade with the Boston Celtics to fit Humphries’ deal into the salary cap. Boston gets a future protected second-round pick and a trade exception in the deal, there is also a team option on the third year. Humphries, 29, averaged eight points and six rebounds for the Celtics last year after being shipped over in the draft day trade with the Brooklyn Nets that brought Brooklyn Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry from the Celtics.
