Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld announced the team would select the “best player available” in the 2015 NBA Draft, but that doesn’t mean anything about where that pick will be made. He admitted the team had looked into moving up from 19th in the draft to a higher selection.
Following From Washington Post.
“We’ve had a lot of conversations about certain things that might be available, possibly moving up, and we’re going to continue those. And then we’ll see who’s available when it’s our turn to pick.”
It would be hard to see the Wizards moving up more than just a few spots in the draft considering they don’t have much to trade away. They could package their second-round pick or even future picks, but it would be hard to see any player making a move. Martell Webster or Kris Humphries could be pieces, but with their contracts, the Wizards would maybe have a tough time trading either away.
It’s draft day, so anything can happen. A lot of moves are still to be made, and a lot of rumors are going to flying around throughout the night. The 19th pick could be in the hands of somebody other than Washington in the next few hours.
