The Washington Wizards are currently 2-1 up on the Atlanta Hawks thanks to Paul Pierce calling game, not glass. But John Wall is still injured. He has missed two games with that wrist injury. It looks bleak for the Wizards’ leader. But you never know. He says that if the pain goes then he’ll take a shot.
“If the pain goes away and I can dribble and do those things again, then it’s all up to me,” Wall said. Given “how competitive I am, if I am able to do those things and dribble and do what I want to do and be myself, then there’s a great [chance] that I will play. But if I can’t be myself, [there’s] no point in going out there.“
But ESPN’s Chris Broussard has some news that is completely different from more optimistic people like Wall and Wiz head coach Randy Wittman.
Broussard talked to a Wizards executive, getting the notion that the exec has labelled Wall’s return as “Highly Unlikely”.
“Guys, I spoke with a Wizards executive earlier today, and while it’s not official, I was given the impression that it’s highly unlikely John Wall returns for this series, or even the postseason,” ESPN’s Chris Broussard said before Saturday’s game. “They told me they are looking 10 years down the road, not the next game, not even the next series. If there’s any chance of him further injuring himself, they will hold him out.“
There are a lot of mixed emotions in the Wizards camp. And you may think that the hype is a little too much but understand that John Wall is so important to this team. In my opinion he was the postseason MVP before the injury. He does so much for the Wiz and it would be a Playoff killing blow if he is declared done for the season.
