Once the Chicago Bulls demolished the Brooklyn Nets 113-86, the Washington Wizards had officially clinched the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs for the second straight year. The Wizards improved on their record this year, and with two games left have already reached 46 wins for the first time in 36 years. The year may have been less than expected for both fans and players in Washington, but as everybody knows, anything can happen once playoff time rolls in.
In the first round, the Wizards will either face the Toronto Raptors or the Chicago Bulls. The Wizards faced the Bulls in the playoffs last season and demolished them before losing to the Indiana Pacers in six games. This year could be the Wizards year to compete and move further than they have in recent memory.
A first round exit, or even maybe a second round exit would be a bust for the Wizards this season. They came in the season with huge expectation, and surpassed those until the all-star break came. A win in the first round will likely set up a matchup with the Atlanta Hawks in the second round. Wizards fans should be excited to see the team make another run and build on all they accomplished in the playoffs last season.
