Now that the dust has settled and everyone has commented on the new Kobe deal and I mean everyone. It now leaves one question… What now? Well first thing. Make sure Kobe is all good.
And that’s going fine from what we know. He might come back before Christmas. Next week he’s going to test his “explosiveness” according to multiple reports.
Secondly, Playoff contention. Everyone is saying no. And so do I. The West is too good and I just don’t think they have it. Kobe can do so much.
Other than Kobe’s rehab it’s all pretty bleak for the Lakers.
Next up Free Agency. Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks, Pau Gasol and Jordan Hill’s contracts are expiring and don’t forget the “Max Player” the Lakers are supposedly getting. Whether it be Melo (probable) or LeBron (no chance).
I think they should all be re-signed, only because they would all be signed if the Lakers don’t. And that’s the last thing they need.
So what does the Kobe contract really mean. Well if you keep up with all things Kobe, you’d know that he hit back to all the haters with responses like “do the math”. And I see what he means. Remember when the initial news broke and I said “the Los Angeles Lakers has resigned the Los Angeles Lakers”?
Well take a step back and realise how much money Kobe has made for the Lakers. I’ll tell you how much, 5 BILLION. With a B! So in that case… 24 Mil sounds fine.
But in terms of re-signing that obviously means nothing.
Sure he took money to be the highest paid player at the moment and maybe in NBA history. But the Lakers people obviously have a plan that we don’t know. So let’s chill a little and let them do their thing.
