Brought in to add an element of veteran experience to a mostly youthful roster, the Philadelphia 76ers have high expectations for offseason acquisition Wilson Chandler.
However, he will now likely have to wait past the season opener to make his 76ers debut. According to The Washington Post’s Tim Bontemps, Chandler strained his hamstring in Philly’s preseason opener and he is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.
The Sixers announce Wilson Chandler is out two to three weeks with a hamstring strain suffered last night.

Now 31 years old, Wilson Chandler was dealt by the Denver Nuggets this summer as he wasn’t a part of their long-term youth movement. Though he likely won’t start for the 76ers this season, his tough mentality and veteran experience could help their development as a whole.
Chandler is expected to back up small forward Robert Covington and could also get minutes at the four behind third-year man Dario Saric. Now having sustained the strain, Chandler will have to work his way back into the crowded rotation once he feels fully healthy, though a hamstring injury can be tricky.
