Adam Zagoria of SNY is reporting that Kentucky big men Willie Cauley-Stein and Dakari Johnson are leaving Kentucky and declaring for the NBA Draft.
Kentucky will hold a 2:30pm press conference on Thursday to announce those who are leaving the school. Along with Cauley-Stein and Johnson, both Harrison twins will be involved. It is unknown whether Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, or Trey Lyles will be there.
Cauley-Stein is a projected lottery pick who averaged just under 10 points per game and 6.4 rebounds this season.
Johnson came off the bench this season and averaged six points and five rebounds in 16 minutes per game.
Johnson is a big 7-footer who is strong down low but that’s about it. To be a succesful NBA center he’ll need to improve both on the offense and defensive end.
Johnson, right now, is nothing more than a backup player in the NBA. Next Season, John Calipari has center Skal Labissiere coming in, the number one recruit in the nation according to ESPN, which could take away playing time for Johnson.
