Will Smith has reportedly turned down ‘Independence Day 2’.
According to Deadline, the actor has declined to reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller.
Reportedly there are two versions of the script being written for the film with one including Will Smith and another without him.
Fans still have hope as no official announcement has been made regarding Smith’s involvement in the sequel.
The producers of the film hope to have the film in theaters by July 1, 2016. This marks the 20th anniversary of the original film.
‘Independence Day’ was released in 1996 and pulled in $817 million worldwide.
