Would the LA Dodgers consider dealing third baseman Juan Uribe? Uribe has been nothing but a consummate professional since he time with the Dodgers, but with an overcrowded infield the Dodgers could look to move the 36 year old corner infielder.
Cuban defector Hector Olivera likely prompts this move once he passes his physical. There were earlier reports that Olivera may need Tommy John surgery to repair his elbow but now recent tests show Olivera will not need the surgery. Los Angeles signed the Cuban second baseman to a six year, 63.5 million dollar deal, its clear the Dodgers would like for Hector to be a big piece for the future of the infield.
LA also owns talented prospect Corey Seager brother of Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager. Seager hit .375 in AA last season at only 21 years old. If Corey turns into anything close to his brother Kyle the young power hitting third baseman should have a bright future in the big leagues. Kyle Seager just received a 7 year, 100 million dollar extension with Seattle this past offseason.
While Veteran infielders Howie Kendrick and Jimmy Rollins may not be around forever, something has to give with the surplus of infielders. There simply are not enough at bats for Justin Turner and Alex Guerrero without the presence at the youngsters waiting in the wings. Things will become clearer closer to the trade deadline for potential landings spots.
