Last year Andre Iguodala joined The Golden State Warriors in free agency in one of the more shocking moves in NBA Free Agency. The move to sign Iguodala certainly had the potential to shake things up in The Western Conference, but Iguodala didn’t have nearly the year we were expecting him to have. Iguodala averaged 9 PPG, 4 AST, 4 REB and 1.5 BLK this may have been a very well balanced stat line with a young Harrison Barnes awaiting his chance at starting though The Warriors might be looking at a change of scenery. Barnes has been in the starting line up for a full season where he showed some potential, but the chance for Golden State to sign a player like Iguodala while providing some depth by sliding Barnes to the bench. This idea seemed flawless at the time giving Golden State the depth they needed to make a championship run.

Unfortunately for Golden State this plan failed, but former player and rookie Head Coach Steve Kerr is here to hopefully fix that. He wants to move Iguodala to the bench more than likely in a sixth man role, and this can help the team do a number of things when it comes to getting Steph Curry or Klay Thompson rest or if they choose to go with a smaller line up with Iguodala at Power Forward to provide David Lee or Andrew Bogut with the proper rest they would need as well.
The big factor into all of this does Andre want to take on this role? It sure doesn’t look like he’s too optimistic on it, but he’s willing to try it. Here’s Andre Iguodala:
Do you care if you start?: “Do I care? I don’t know. That’s a good question. I’m just playing ball. You try not to make a big deal out of it. I’ve been in the league for a really long time, and there a lot of stories about anything and little things. If my shoes are tied the wrong way, that can become a story. I’m trying not to make it a story this year, and I’m trying to win a championship.
You had eight assists and zero turnovers off the bench: “I think it was just growing up and being smart about the situation. You could do the opposite and just kind of tank it to say that it’s wrong, but our whole focus with this team is to try to continue to improve and to make the most out of our unit. We have so much depth that there will be opportunities to get where everybody wants to be. That’s the main focus.-Rusty Simmons SFGate.com
From the sounds of it Andre is willing to go along for the ride on this move, but he’s not convinced it will work. Iguodala is a 12 year veteran so I don’t expect him to be too much of a fan of it and this may not even work and if this plan doesn’t work I can see the end of Iguodala in a Golden State uniform come to an end come Trade Deadline time later on this season.
