As everyone knows by now, the Cleveland Cavaliers shipped Dion Waiters to Oklahoma City last night in a three-team trade that sent Iman Shumpert and JR Smith to the Cavs.
From everyone’s point of view, the Cavs and the Waiters marriage was just about as good as Kris Humphires’ and Kim Kardahian’s, and looked gloomy from the start.
The former number four overall pick from Syracuse was unhappy with many things while playing in Cleveland. Those include coming off the bench (something he did his entire career at Syracuse,) sharing the ball with Lebron James, and the main thing: sharing a back court with Kyrie Irving.
Sam Amico of FOX Sports is reporting that Waiters thinks he’s a better player than Kyrie, and that the Cavs favored Irving over Waiters.
So Waiters is now a member of the Thunder where it still might be hard for him to get his touches, like in Cleveland, with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook as his new teammates.
Scott Brooks for some reason always likes to bring his better shooting guard off the bench. Thabo Sefolosha started over James Harden and Kevin Martin during their time in OKC and it should be interesting to see if Brooks starts Anthony Morrow over Waiters.
If Brooks decides to go this route, well then Dion is basically back in the same situation he was in with the Cavs.
