HBO handed out pay raises to the stars of Westworld. Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffery Wright, and Thandie Newton all secured major raises.
The leading stars of Westworld were a part of contract renegotiations ahead of the show’s third season. Notably absent from the announcement were James Marsden and Tessa Thompson. While not the leading forces of the show, both play a major part in the series. This has led many fans to speculate on the future of the two on the series. HBO refused to comment on the negotiations.
The four major stars will now apparently make $250,000 an episode. That marks a pay raise of anywhere between $100,000 and $150,000 depending on the actor. The Westworld stars are now on par with other popular shows such as This Us and Stranger Things. On both series, the leading actors make $250,000 an episode as well. This mark’s HBO’s confidence in Westworld as its flagship series post-Game of Thrones.
Westworld season 2 ended in June and production is likely to get going soon on the third season. No release date has been announced but it will probably air next year after Game of Thrones wraps its final season.
