
The Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul was named the most valuable player in this year’s All-Star game, as the Western Conference defeated the Eastern Conference 143 to 138 for their 3rd straight victory and four of the last five.
Paul, 28, is the first Los Angeles Clipper to win the award. Paul scored 9 of his 20 points in the 4th quarter, he also ended up with 15 assists. Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas were the only two players in NBA history to score 20 points and 15 assists in an All-star game before Paul joined the club.
Lebron James of the Miami Heat scored 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, but only one of those points came in the 4th quarter. Kobe Bryant defended James in the final five minutes of the game and did it successfully, even blocking two of James shot attempts. Bryant had a low scoring game with 9 points, but had 8 assists.
Kevin Durant led the Western Conference in points with 30, Durant has scored 30+ points in three straight all-star game appearances. Carmelo Anthony led the East in scoring with 30 points and in rebounding with 12.
