When Wesley Matthews’ season ended due to a horrible achilles injury that all but ruined the Blazers hopes of a legitimate push into the NBA playoffs and crushed multiple dreams. Matthews season was over, the Blazers lost their best perimeter defender and three-point shooter and beyond that, the team just looked defeated.
Now as Matthews heals up, it appears that a lot is expected to change for him in the coming weeks. Whether LaMarcus Aldridge does leave Portland or not, some of his teammates have already been sent away from the team.
Nicolas Batum was traded to the Charlotte Hornets and Steve Blake was traded to the Brooklyn Nets on NBA draft night. As the team looks to reshape their roster, they have to decide whether Matthews will be a part of their future.
Despite the fact he believes asking for $15 million per year is ‘reasonable‘, it appears that the Blazers aren’t the only team interested in his services.

Word I hear is that Wes Matthews (@wessywes2) is ahead of schedule on his Achilles rehab and drawing interest from Toronto as well as Dallas

Both options for Matthews seem more than interesting. Not only do they have the money to offer what he wants, they also have some complimentary talent to succeed almost immediately. He’s also getting interest from the New York Knicks who will have a meeting with Wesley Matthews soon.
Both the Toronto Raptors and Dallas Mavericks made the playoffs last year and while they both may be losing key parts to their backcourt, Matthews would be a drastic upgrade for both squads.
How well he performs that will be a huge concern but from the looks of the below video, Matthews appears to be doing very well for himself.
