Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Wes Matthews is expected to miss the remainder of the 2017-18 NBA season after suffering a stress fracture in his right leg, reports Yahoo’s Shams Charania:

This season for the Mavs, Matthews has averaged 12.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 40.6 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from 3-point range and 82.2 percent from the free-throw line.
The Mavs were reportedly seeking a first-round draft pick for Matthews leading up to the deadline, but given that Matthews is still in Dallas, it seems that they didn’t find any takers, which is unsurprising. Matthews is a good player, but he’s 31 years old, not quite as good as he used to be, and is owed over $18.5 million next season. Most, if not all, teams would rather have a first-round draft pick than a well-paid aging veteran.
