On Saturday, July 29, a page will be added to the boxing history books. For the first time since Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe met in 1992, two undefeated Black fighters in the same division will meet to determine an undisputed champion and who will top most pound-for-pound lists. In one corner, Errol Spence Jr. represents the Lone Star State and the famed stable of fighters training under Derrick James. In the other corner, Terence “Bud” Crawford represents Omaha, Nebraska and the stable of fighters training under Brian McIntyre. At the end of the night, only one man will have their hand raised, but boxing fans will win regardless of the outcome.
Before the two men meet at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, they must participate in a ceremonial weigh-in. Errol Spence Jr. has spent his entire career weighing in under the 147-pound limit while Crawford has done so for the better part of the last ten years. Once both men step on the scale and meet their contracted weight, it will be official. Watch the weigh-in proceedings live from T-Mobile Arena at 6 p.m. EST on YouTube.
