The Super Bowl LVII may be the biggest stage in American sports. However, it may also be the biggest stage in American music. Throughout the years, Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson and Beyoncé have all lent their talents to the NFL’s biggest night. Tonight, the tradition continued with the help of three incredible talents — Babyface, Chris Stapleton and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
Moments after Sheryl Lee Ralph took to midfield, 12-time Grammy Award winner Babyface stepped up to the microphone. Accompanied by his guitar, the timeless hitmaker delivered a calming performance of “America, The Beautiful.”
“Oh beautiful for heroes proved/In liberating strife/Who more than self, their country loved/And mercy more than life,” he sang.
The world knows his name because he has helped the likes of Usher, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé and TLC with their work. More recently, he has turned his attention to the younger generation of song makers. Within the last few years, Kehlani, Lucky Daye and Ella Mai have reached out to the legendary musician. Not to mention, he’s stepped back into the studio to deliver new music of his own. Just this past weekend, he dropped a new track called “As A Matter Of Time.”
