Warriors Win Shootout With Oklahoma City 114-109, Durant Leaves With Ankle Sprain
The Golden State Warriors snapped the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 7-game winning streak with a 114-109 win at home on Friday. Stephen Curry led Golden State with 34 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds. Russell Westbrook had a team-high 33 points and 8 assists for the Thunder.
Kevin Durant scored all 30 of his points in the first half before suffering a right ankle sprain early in the second half. It’s the same foot that Durant injured which caused him to miss the first part of the season. He wouldn’t return to this game.
Durant was off to a scorching start to the game which played a major factor in 40 first-quarter points and 60 percent field goal shooting for Oklahoma City. Both teams shot 50 percent or better through the first half and Golden State kept with their tempo and shooting and gained a 33-23 advantage in the second quarter.
The Thunder kept the game close through the second half behind Russell Westbrook’s aggression (11-for-30 FG) but the Warriors had more spread contributions throughout including 29 bench points a 32-17 advantage in the team assists column.
Golden State moves to 22-3 and Oklahoma City goes to 12-14.
