Oklahoma City built up an insurmountable lead early and the rest is history. Dominating in seemingly every stat field, the Thunder were simply too much for Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors to handle. With the series now in the Thunder’s favor 3-1 after their encouraging 118-94 Game 4 win, OKC will look to close things out Thursday night in The Bay.
Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant were a duo possessed Tuesday night, each contributing career nights on their way to a home victory. Westbrook fueled various Thunder runs on his way to a 36/11/11 day while Durant posted 26 points alongside his 11 rebounds. This of course helped to free up the rest of their offense, resulting in the entire starting lineup finishing with double-digit points. Dion Waiters also posted 10 off the bench. True to the series, the team who secured the most rebounds throughout the contest came out on top.
Golden State’s Game 3 woes apparently carried over in Game 4’s “Must Win” scenario as the Dubs couldn’t get anything rolling their way. Draymond Green is now a -73 plus/minus for the last 7 quarters, the worst of his career. Reigning unanimous MVP Stephen Curry picked up where Green left off, matching his 6 turnovers while shooting 6-20 on the evening. An all-around disappointing performance for the team that broke the NBA regular season record in wins.
The one bright spot for Warriors fans was Klay Thompson’s 17 point quarter to begin the second half. Proving to be the one catalyst in an otherwise stagnant half-court offense during Game 4, Thompson came out demanding the ball then subsequently burying it possession after possession. Unfortunately for The Warriors, it wasn’t enough to combat Oklahoma City’s dominant effort.
With every facet of the Thunder offense operating on all cylinders, Game 5 will be appointment television with Golden State’s back up against the wall. Russell Westbrook tries to bring his city to the NBA Finals Thursday at 9 p.m. EST.
