After falling victim to a late-game comeback in the first matchup of the series, Stephen Curry and The Golden State Warriors weren’t about to lose two consecutive at home. Ahead 57-49 entering half, “The Dubs” quickly pulled away on their route to a 118-91 victory. With things now tied up at 1-1, both teams look to gain an advantage as they fly out to Oklahoma City for Game Three.
Entering the third quarter, it seemed this highly-contested battle would again be decided in the final few minutes. That was until the seven minute mark, when Stephen Curry singlehandedly went on a 15-2 run spanning a total of two minutes. Curry would end the night with 28 on 5/8 shooting. This hot streak was reminiscent of not only the MVP’s regular season but most recently just one game prior —— this time on the other side of the ball, when Russell Westbrook posted 24 of 27 total Thunder points in the third. Unfortunately for Oklahoma City neither Westbrook nor fellow superstar teammate Kevin Durant could ride that heat wave into a victory during Wednesday night’s competition.
Triple-double machine Draymond Green was close to repeating tonight with a full stat sheet consisting of 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. A storyline sure to be mentioned throughout the rest of the Warriors’ playoff run will be whether the expressive Green can resist picking up his seventh technical foul (which would result in a single game suspension). Sixth Man of the Year runner-up Andre Iguodala scored 14, which included a circus shot sure to be seen on tomorrow’s top plays. Festus Ezeli and Mo Speights also stepped up by adding 12 and 13 in garbage time.
Kevin Durant bounced back from an unimpressive Game 1 with 29 tonight, but had a team high 8 turnovers. Despite exiting early due to a lower back injury, Steven Adams added a double-double while faced up against a wide variety of Golden State bigs. Look for the Thunder to bounce back big Sunday evening at 8 p.m. EST as it will be the first time having the crowd on their side.
