Golden State Warriors’ guard Patrick McCaw has been diagnosed with a lumbosacral bone bruise and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, according to the team:
“McCaw did not suffer any neurological damage (back) after falling to the floor and the injury has been diagnosed as a lumbosacral bone bruise, secondary to the impact of the fall.
“He will be re-evaluated in four (4) weeks and, at this point, his playing status for the remainder of the season/playoffs has not been determined.”
McCaw, who suffered a gruesome injury during the Warriors’ game with the Sacramento Kings on March 31, will now be sidelined for the remaining regular season games, along with the majority of the playoffs.
McCaw has proven to be a key contributor off the Golden State Warriors bench in both of his two seasons in the NBA, with averages of four points on 42 percent shooting along with a rebound and assist apiece over his rookie and sophomore seasons, also showing great defensive flashes in limited minutes.
McCaw was used as a starter replacement when either Steph Curry or Klay Thompson were sidelined last season and earlier this current season, but the emergence of rookie Quinn Cook does soften the blow a bit for the defending champions.
