It’s times like this when I look at all the rash decisions that have been suggested this season and have a little chuckle. Remember when people were considering petitioning for moving back the three point line because Stephen Curry made it look stupidly easy? That was fun watching old people having a fit. “WELL WHY DOESN’T THE HALFCOURT COUNT FOR 5 POINTS WHILE WE’RE AT IT?”
That was fun, so what have we learned? Just because one player can shoot like he’s 99 3PT on 2K, does not mean we should change the fundamental rules of NBA Basketball. The basic rules never change, but teams do. It’s evident that the Warriors can’t win another title by just playing Small Ball and “The Line-up of death” and hoping for the best. They need to evolve and Warriors owner Joe Lacob knows that they need to grow.
“We drove this idea of small ball, and it’s a different style of play,” he said. “Having said that, I think it’s important to know that whenever everyone else starts doing things, it’s time to start doing what’s next. We’re on to the next idea — How can we iterate to evolve to get an advantage? I can assure you we’re very forward thinking in that regard.”
Man onto the next idea. Could you imagine the Golden State Warriors adding another dimension to their team and play? Oh man, no wonder Vegas has them as favourites for next year. It’ll be interesting to see just how they’ll evolve.
