The Golden State Warriors haven’t lost a game since November 11th. Quite frankly, It’s truly amazing seeing them play, and honestly it wouldn’t be going out a limb to say that they are a top contender in the Western Conference. In the Western Conference it is all about match ups, and the Golden State Warriors have all the right talent and experience to pursue a championship. Before we get ahead of ourselves, the main task for the Golden State Warriors were the Houston Rockets tonight. No Andrew Bogut for the Warriors which mean’t that they were lacking some serious interior defense and it showed as Donatas Montiejunas tore apart the post tonight, who had 18 points tonight. For the Houston Rockets, James Harden kept them in the game with an explosive game of 34 points and 8 rebounds, making 3/8 3 pointers and having 4 steals. Harden and the Rockets just did not have enough to keep up with the Golden State Warriors, who blew this open late in the 4th quarter. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes combined for 61 points, and Speights, who has a revived career had 15 points.
Analysis: Last year, you would see glimpses of brilliance from the Golden State Warriors, where their defense complimented their fast break opportunities, and their offense was clicking. But only glimpses. Now, we see it on a daily basis, in fact EVERY minute of the game they push themselves to become better, so what has changed? Coaching. No disrespect for Mark Jackson, but Steve Kerr has coached this team to become the best team in the Western Conference as the month of December winds down. He officially has the best head coaching starting record as a rookie head coach at 19-2, and it’s all due to his coaching. This team hasn’t changed much, other then letting Mark Jackson go, and adding Shaun Livingston. Steve Kerr has taken Andre Iguodala out of the starting lineup, and put Draymond Green (who is in there due to David Lee’s injury) and Harrison Barnes. At first, there were many speculations as to if Steve Kerr knew what he was doing, but he knew more then anyone, that it would work like a charm. Iguodala brings in energy and aggresiveness that the Warriors lacked off the bench, and when David Lee comes back (assuming he will come off the bench), they will have even more fire power. I’m going to go out on a limb and say we will see the Warriors go far come playoff time.
