Yesterday was a great day for sport. We had the Euro 2016 Draw, here in foggy ol’ England we had some prime boxing (Remember the name Anthony Joshua) and in the States we had the Navy-Army game and the UFC which was highlighted by Conor McGregor beating Jose Aldo in historically quick fashion.
But the main talking point in sports yesterday was the Golden State Warriors, finally losing. After 24 straight wins (I don’t care what the NBA say, I’m not counting last year) they were taken down by the young (and stupidly long) Milwaukee Bucks. It was an amazing spectacle, the Bucks truly showed why their future is so bright last night. So now that it’s all sunk in, how are the Warriors feeling?
“It’s definitely weird,” Stephen Curry said of losing. “You forget what the feeling is like. But I like how we’re handling it.”
From interim coach Luke Walton: “We didn’t have it tonight. That’s why it’s so hard to do what these guys have done so far. Tonight it caught up to us. We didn’t have our shots falling. We were a little slow on our defensive rotations. It happens. But it takes nothing away from what they did to start the season.”
“It’s disappointing because I thought we beat ourselves,” Klay Thompson said. “(Losing) was bound to happen,” he added. “It’s unfortunate it happened tonight. But we’re going to see them again on Friday and have a nice stretch at home.”
I would not be surprised if the Warriors absolutely destroy the Bucks. It’s not even going to be a week removed when the two teams meet again.
The Warriors were clearly tired, Boston should get half of the Bucks’ win for running the Warriors ragged.
