Fresh off winning their first NBA Championship in 40 years, you would think the Golden State Warriors would be alright with their position in the 2015 NBA Draft. They don’t have to do anything or add anyone in the draft, they can just hangout and take a guy late in the first round who they could develop over time. No rush to get a difference maker.
It appears that actually might be the contrary for the team. They see the quality of talent in this draft and they appear to be interested in possibly moving up to select a young guy to help their bench.

Interesting development heading toward Thursday night: I’m hearing the Warriors are exploring the possibility of trading UP. Target unknown.
I would have thought GSWs would try to trade out of the 1st to save money or use a 1st-rounder to get someone to take David Lee.
It’s interesting that David Lee was mentioned, because that’s another possibility for the team. If they want to save money, getting rid of Lee and their first round pick could save them about $18 million in player salary alone next season. Lee and the Warriors have been working to get him a new home for next season but so far no one has bit on the Lee bait.
The Warriors now may be looking to make the deal for Lee a little more enticing.

the Warriors are trawling for someone to take David Lee, with the 30th pick as a potential sweetener, per sources around the league.
The Warriors almost certainly won’t sacrifice two picks for that financial relief, per league sources.
Lee needs to go. As unfortunate as it sounds, he needs to go. He was important for the team during the NBA draft and he’s been the longest tenured member of the team, alongside Steph Curry. But all good things must come to an end. Lee is also the last remaining player to have an ‘old’ collective bargaining contract, a deal he agreed to during the summer of 2010 so his contract might have different rules that were granfathered in with the new CBA.
Either way, it looks like the Warriors might be one of those teams looking to make a move on draft night, which is only 2 days away.
