But after losing the chance to get Kevin Love, the Warriors have finally decided to commit to Klay Thompson and rightly so. Can’t treat him like a trade piece, commitment is key, especially for the Warriors. A team I think can go far in the Playoffs. ESPN’s Marc Stein reported the news.
The Golden State Warriors have agreed to terms with shooting guard Klay Thompson on a four-year maximum extension projected to be in the $70 million range, sources said.
The Warriors have gone to great lengths to hold on to Thompson, refusing to include him in trade talks for Kevin Love this summer. They also rebuffed several recent inquiries for him as extension talks dragged on.
The Warriors had until midnight Friday to reach an agreement with Thompson, who would have become a restricted free agent next summer otherwise.
I’m glad this is all done and dusted. He’s grown a lot this past offseason. And the Splash Brothers can only get better at this point.
