After we saw a natural disaster decimate Houston and other parts of Texas in Hurricane Harvey, a similar storm followed and blindsided Floridians. Hurrican Irma hit Florida nearly a week ago and the damage is immense, some of it even irreparable similar to the chaos Harvey caused in Texas.
The NBA community has always done a phenomenal job of staying engaged and up to date on the events of our country and that remained the same for these two tragic natural disasters. We saw league-wide support and relief efforts from NBA players and coaches for the damage done by Hurrican Harvey. Now, as Hurricane Irma relief efforts hit full swing, the NBA is not going to sit this one out either.
Not only are human lives in peril during natural disasters like these, but also our animal counterparts that we share our homes and love with. Earlier today, the Golden State Warriors joined the Miami Heat in efforts to get any and all displaced pets due to the hurricane to a caring home. Though there are numerous firefighters, policemen, and other forms of authority working hard to account for everybody in the areas that got the brunt of the hurricane, there’s more at play than just human lives. Saving pets who have seen their lives as they know it wash away is important as well and that’s exactly what the Warriors and Heat did today. Here’s to sending out prayers and hoping for a safe and speedy recovery for anyone who has been affected by this horrible tragedy.
