Sources told ESPN.com that Gordon, who has been trying out for the Warriors at their practice facility in Oakland over the past few days, is likely to have a deal with the NBA’s reigning champions by week’s end that will give him an opportunity to try to snag a spot on Golden State’s final 15-man roster.
Gordon was last with the Orlando Magic, who signed him to a two-year, $9 million contract last summer but refused to pick up the second year on his deal, making Gordon a free agent. He played 56 games with Orlando and averaged just over 14 minutes per game.
The 32-year-old Gordon won Sixth Man of the Year after his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls, who drafted him third overall in 2004. He also played in Detroit for three seasons and Charlotte for two. His career average is just under 15 points per game.
