The last time we saw Marreese Speights on a basketball court, he missed a dunk on a fast break in the NBA Finals. While that play might have affected his future playing time in the series, it won’t affect his future with his team, the NBA champion Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors have decided to exercise their team option on one of the better reserve big men scorers in the NBA.
Following from Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle.
As Warriors GM Bob Myers said he was "inclined" to do, the Warriors have exercised their team option on Marreese Speights for 15-16.

Marreese Speights will make about $3.815 million in 2015-16, which seems like a bargain for the team's most consistent reserve scorer.

Simmons is right, Speights at only $3.8 million is a steal for the Warriors. Especially with the team looking to unload David Lee, it just makes Speights more valuable to them going forward. Mo Buckets or the biggest shooting guard on the court, does a lot for the Warriors whenever he gets solid minutes and he’s sure not afraid to let the shots fly.
Beyond this year, it is unknown what Speights future might hold. With the salary cap going up big next summer, he can cash in and possibly quadruple his current salary. Then again, he could be one of those key guys who will play for cheap so he can have continued success with one of the youngest teams in the league.
