The series is heading to Cleveland. The Warriors were simply better in almost every facet of the game Sunday night as they steamrolled LeBron James and his teammates to an effortless 110-77. Funny enough, it was the Cavaliers who seemed to be playing without effort through Game 2. Beaten on field goal percentage, team rebounds, team assists, points in the paint, fast break points, and bench points, The Cavs head home demoralized without much to hang their hat on. A serious change is going to need to take place to turn the pace of this impending sweep around.
The Warriors bench keeps doing their thing, dropping 40 in the process on their way to a rout at home. Sixth Man of The Year runner-up Andre Iguodala finished the night at a +28, while adding a standard 7/5/3 to his team’s box score, making his candidacy for repeating last year’s Finals MVP even more legitimate. Shaun Livingston has proven once again that he can’t miss from mid-range, a deadly poison that The Cavaliers have yet to find the antidote to. Backups Festus Ezeli, Leandro Barbosa, and Ian Clark came strong off the bench for The Dubs as well to post 6, 10, and 7 in clutch time. Andrew Bogut was the ultimate inside protector with his 4 blocks in just the first 7 minutes of regulation.
Everybody Hates Draymond Green. Whether you think favorably of the highly controversial trash-talker or not, he’s going to continue to take over games in the playoffs, this time sharing his force to lead the Warriors in scoring with 28, alongside 7 rebounds and 5 assists. In other words, just another night for Dray. The best backcourt in the league is gaining momentum, as Curry and Thompson combined for 35 while hitting roughly 50% of their shots that they chucked up. With a high Golden State turnover rate, Curry and friends shouldn’t get too comfortable.
The NBA Playoffs thus far has taught us enough to be skeptical of a 4-game finale. Whether it be the Thunder roaring back against San Antonio, or the Warriors returning the favor in the Western Conference Finals, anything can still happen.
