The Golden State Warriors couldn’t seem to miss Wednesday night during Game Five of the Western Conference Semi-Finals against the Memphis Grizzlies. As a team they shot 46.9% from the field and 46.7% from three-point range in a 98-78 victory.
Stephen Curry scored 18 points on six three pointers becoming the first player in Playoff history with six three’s and six steals in one game. Along with Curry, the Warriors were led by a balanced scoring attack as Klay Thompson chipped in with 21 points, and Andre Igudola who turned back the clock with some emphatic jams and 16 points off the bench.
Memphis opened up the game with 13 point lead before Curry it four three-pointers to give Golden State a one point lead and they wouldn’t look back. The Warriors would go onto outscore the Grizzlies 72-53 in the remaining three-quarters. Memphis has yet to score 100 points so far this series.
One can make the case for the Grizzlies playing so poorly was the absence of lockdown defender Tony Allen, who missed tonight’s game because of a hamstring injury. His status for Game Six is uncertain.
Game Six is scheduled for Friday at 9:30 est in Memphis. With the win, Golden State can punch their ticket to the Western Conference Finals, while the Grizzlies will try to send the series back to Oakland for a Game Seven.
