CBS won the sweepstakes for Walton Goggins’ services in their upcoming pilot, The Unicorn, according to Deadline. Goggins was reportedly courted by a number of prospective series looking for a big star to headline their pilot.
The Unicorn will follow Goggins, a recent widower, as he tries to get his life back on track. However, he quickly learns that’s easier said than done though as he is sorely underprepared to care for his two daughters alone. As he navigates the stormy seas of single parenting, Goggins’ character will also try to dip his foot back in the dating pool. Surprisingly, he finds out he’s somewhat of a hot commodity in the single parent dating scene though, complicating things even more.
Based on a true story, The Unicorn was written by Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, co-producers on Fam. The series was originally imagined as a single-camera show but an attempt was made to convert it to multi-camera with director James Burrow. However, it has since been reverted to the single-camera format with a new, unnamed director. Martin and Schiff are set to produce alongside Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, and Wendi Trilling, as well as Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed.
Goggins appeared most recently in Ant-Man and the Wasp. He is set to appear next in Epix’ spy-drama Deep State as well as the film Them That Follow.
