Vlade Divac is having fun in Sacramento. He’s working for the Kings and best of all. He gets to watch one of the best centers in the league every night.
Now Divac used to play against a then potential Hall Of Fame player in Shaquille O’Neal. The Lakers/Kings rivalry in the early 2000’s were extremely fun to watch. But nearly 15 years after the epic battles and Divac still got some jabs to throw. In an ESPN article, Divac talks about DeMarcus Cousins and how beast he is. But then he mentions Shaq and then the jabs get thrown.
“I’ve been in basketball a long, long time, and I have to say he’s the most talented big guy I have ever seen,” Divac said Monday. “Shaq wasn’t talented — he was just strong. I was talented, but I wasn’t strong.”
Divac went on to call O’Neal one of the most dominant players ever. O’Neal, who knocked Divac and the Kings out of the playoffs in three straight seasons from 1999-2001, is now a minority owner with the team and one of Divac’s bosses.
“He always was my boss,” Divac said.
Alright maybe I hyped it up a little with the “jabs” thing but it’s a statement for sure.
And maybe Divac is right. What else did Shaq really do other than throw his weight around? It’s legitimate and you know it.
