Vlade Divac has been everywhere in NBA news recently. He has gone on the road with the Sacramento Kings and has completely embraced his new front office role, which has led to him saying some interesting things about the organization and players. First he said that Shaquille O’neal was not talented and he was just strong. Although he had a point (Shaq is huge), he wasn’t just an air head with muscle, he knew how to play the game.
Now, Vlade Divac is going one step further and saying that current Sacramento Kings All-Star and franchise player, DeMarcus Cousins is the most talented big man he has ever seen.
According to ESPN:
“I’ve been in basketball a long, long time, and I have to say he’s the most talented big guy I have ever seen,” Divac said Monday. “Shaq wasn’t talented — he was just strong. I was talented, but I wasn’t strong.”
There is no doubt in my mind that DeMarcus Cousins is a talented player, but there are tons of big men that have came through and have an edge over the dominant center. Names like Yao Ming, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, LaMarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol. Those guys are definitely there in terms of talent and accolades. If Vlade is right, DeMarcus is destined for greatness, and we’re just waiting to see.
