Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis star in the first trailer for his final film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Davis plays the lead role of Ma Rainey, a rising jazz singer. Meanwhile, Boseman takes on the role of her horn player, who is looking to make a career of his own.
“Tensions rise between Ma Rainey, her ambitious horn player and the white management determined to control the legendary Mother of the Blues,” Netflix writes.
Alongside Boseman and Davis, Colman Domingo, Michael Potts, Glynn Turman, Dusan Brown and Taylour Paige star in the film. George C. Wolfe serves as the film’s director. Check out the film’s trailer before it hits Netflix on December 18, 2020.
