ESPN’s Bill Simmons once joked that if Orlando were relying on Vince Carter to help win them four straight playoff series, they were sorely mistaken. Now in the twilight of his career, no team is resting its playoff fortunes on whether Carter can drop 20 plus points per game, but the man known as ‘Vinsanity’ says he is prepared to play his role for the Mavericks this season. Carter wants to be the designated sixth man on the roster, especially in the wake of Jason Terry’s departure.
“I’m down for it,” Carter said when asked if he wanted to be the new sixth man. “I’ll come in and help the team, remain verbal — I do that well. I just try to keep us going forward and not regress. When the second unit comes on the floor, they have to keep it going. I just try to do a little bit of everything to help the team.”
