In an NBA world where the media is consistently being ostracized for their reports, whether they be false or not, it appears another story about a star player clashing with a member of their organization has come to the attention of one head coach.
Unfortunately for the unsuspecting credentialed media members that were a part of the media availability the Washington Wizards had earlier today, Wizards head coach Randy Wittman decided to explode about what he says was a false report.
The report in question comes from Michael Lee at the Washington Post talking about John Wall clashing with the team doctors.
Wall refused to accept the initial diagnosis of a “real, real bad sprain” after X-rays immediately following the game were negative. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, Wall clashed with team medical staffers before sitting out Tuesday because he felt something more serious had caused his hand to explode. After a few days of confusion and concern, Wall got the confirmation of bone fractures that he never really wanted, leaving fans of the team with broken hearts.
Wittman leading the charge against the media today with his ‘next question’ explosion is just another case of him getting frustrated with those who cover his team.
UPDATE:
After the press conference, Wittman had some words for Lee.
